Dr. ROBERTO L. PIEMONTESI MD, CM, FRCSC
Dr Rob Piemontesi is a board certified ophthalmologist focusing on restoring vision for those people suffering from cataracts and glaucoma. He currently practices at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital where he performs small incision cataract and glaucoma surgeries.
Dr. Rob Piemontesi received his MD from the University of Cape Town in South Africa in 1982, and later immigrated to Saskatchewan where he was in general practice for five years. He then completed his Ophthalmology training at the University of Saskatchewan, and his glaucoma fellowship at the University of Calgary. He was in private practice in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where he was active in the teaching program at the University of Saskatchewan as a clinical assistant professor in the department of Ophthalmology. During this period his particular focus was on training Ophthalmology residents in both the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataract surgery.
Dr. Piemontesi relocated to Nanaimo in 2004 where he and his staff focus on providing advanced ophthalmological care to the residents of Vancouver Island.
